About Shiri
In our modern world, many people experience loneliness, anxiety, and pain. Often, they focus on material things or other people, asking, "Why did he/she do that to me?" rather than turning inward. Shiri Shapira-Simchi helps her clients improve the most critical relationship in their lives: the one with themselves. By fostering self-compassion and self-acceptance, Shiri guides her clients to feel whole and happier, enhancing their relationships with others.
Shiri believes the cornerstone of effective therapy is the connection between the client and the therapist. Trust and comfort are paramount. Shiri offers empathy, authenticity, and acceptance without judgment or criticism. She helps clients examine the "stories" they tell themselves against objective reality, revealing that many narratives are not based on reality but on personal experience and history. This realization empowers clients to change their narratives.
Shiri's dedication to her clients stems from her belief that there is always hope, even in difficult situations. Having faced her challenges, she found strength and hope through therapy and now guides her clients on their healing journeys.
Shiri Shapira-Simchi is a clinical social worker from Israel registered as a licensed social worker in Colorado. She holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Social Work from Bar-Ilan University in Israel and a Bachelor of Social Work from Tel-Aviv University. She completed specialized certificate studies in youth therapy and play therapy, including a two-year program at Bar-Ilan University and a one-year program with the Synergetic Play Therapy Institute.
With over 25 years of experience, Shiri has worked extensively as a therapist. She began her career as a Juvenile Probation Officer, providing individual, family, and group therapy for teens and their families dealing with trauma, abuse, addictions, criminal behavior, and boundaries. After relocating to the United States, she lived in California, supporting individuals and couples from the Israeli community with immigration, relationship, and parenting issues. Five years ago, she moved to Colorado, where she worked with DUI offenders and later at a private clinic treating a variety of clients aged 5-70 for conditions such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, suicidal ideation, relationships, and other mental health issues.
Shiri lives in Colorado with her husband, two teenage boys, two dogs, and three cats. In her free time, she enjoys writing, reading, walking her dogs, and spending time with loved ones.
