Did you know that men and women form addictions differently? Did you know that the chemicals in men's and women's brains make each respond differently to drugs and alcohol?
For men, addiction is related to dopamine, the chemical in the brain that gives us pleasure, increases our focus, and makes us feel good. Addictions like alcohol, heroin, and cocaine encourage dopamine spikes.
Women's addictions are often caused by inhibited serotonin functions and are related to food and exercise addictions and other compulsive behaviors.
As such, treatments may vary between men and women and this needs to be taken into consideration when seeking solutions.
Here are two amazing videos by John Gray from his Mars Venus blog. Worth a look!
